Monroe Owsley
Monroe Owsley, August 11, 1900, Atlanta, GA - June 7, 1937, Belmont, CA. He worked as a reporter and a dramatic critic before becoming an actor. He gained experience with stock companies in Chicago, Cincinnati, and Dayton before his Broadway debut in 1925 in "Young Blood". He debuted in "The First Kiss" in 1928 with Fay Wray and he went on to co-star with Ann Harding and Mary Astor in "Holiday" 1930, "Ten Cents a Dance" 1931 with Barbara Stanwyck, "Honor Among Lovers" 1931 with Claudette Colbert and Fredric March, "Indiscreet" 1931 with Gloria Swanson, "This Modern Age" 1931 with Joan Crawford, "Unashamed" 1932 with Helen Twelvetrees, "Call Her Savage" 1932 with Clara Bow, "The Keyhole" 1933 with Kay Francis, "Ex-Lady" 1933 with Bette Davis, "Brief Moment" 1933 with Carole Lombard, "She Was a Lady" 1934 with Helen Twelvetrees, "Behold My Wife!" 1934 with Sylvia Sidney, "Rumba" 1935 with George Raft and Carole Lombard, "Goin' to Town" 1935 with Mae West, and onwards until his death at the age of 36 of a heart attack. The fact that he died on the same day as Jean Harlow made his demise go by with little notice.
