Boundaries are not walls

 Boundaries are not walls.

They are not about shutting everyone out.
They are not about being cold, bitter, or heartless.

Boundaries are doors.
And those doors only open for the right people.
The ones who respect you. The ones who value you. The ones who know how to love without taking advantage.

The wrong people will call you difficult. They will say you have changed. They will say you are “too much” now. But that is only because they are no longer getting the easy access they once abused.

Boundaries are not about keeping people away. They are about letting the right people in and protecting the peace you fought so hard to build.

If someone cannot respect your boundaries, they do not deserve the key to your door.
