Stop telling

Stop telling women they “lose themselves” in motherhood.

Maybe she didn’t lose herself at all. Maybe she outgrew the old version of herself. Maybe the woman who partied every weekend, or slept until noon, or could leave the house on a whim doesn’t exist anymore because she chose a different life.

That doesn’t mean she disappeared. It means she became someone new. Someone stronger. Someone softer. Someone who knows what it means to put another life before her own.

Motherhood doesn’t erase you. It evolves you.

So stop acting like becoming a mom means a woman is “less.” She’s not less. She’s more. More tired, more stretched, more challenged, more powerful. She didn’t lose herself. She found a different version of her that’s just as real, just as worthy, and ten times stronger than the one she left behind.
