From a mom to my fellow moms
From a mom to my fellow moms this needs to stop.
When a mom opens up and says she’s having a hard time, stop saying things like:
“Try having more kids”
“Just wait until they’re teenagers”
“You think that’s hard? I had it worse”
This isn’t the struggle Olympics.
Motherhood is not a competition to see who is the most tired, the most overwhelmed, or the most stretched thin.
Sometimes we just need to be heard.
Not one-upped.
Not dismissed.
Just heard.
So when a mom says she’s struggling,
say this instead:
“I see you.”
“That sounds so hard.”
“You’re doing such a good job.”
Because no one needs to feel like their pain isn’t valid just because someone else’s might look heavier.
Support starts with listening.
Let’s be softer with each other.
